UStacticalsupply MAV

This is the latest rig I have bought, they have called it a vest but I would call it a chest harness, but I won’t argue with the manufacturers, so we will call it Vest.

What the Makers say

Detailed Description

Available in a one-piece unit or a two-piece unit. These vest bodies will accept any of our modular components. Each has 1.5" adjustable shoulder straps and a waist strap. Both models have a Velcro opening between the buckles, giving the user access to a large pocket. The one-piece unit gives the wearer maximum room for pocket placement. The-two piece unit is easier to put on, and may be opened up when going prone for long periods of time. The vest is constructed from 1000 denier Cordura nylon and Mil-spec webbing. Available in OD, Black, ACU, Multicam, and Tan.

What I say

When I received this vest through the post, I thought oh my god what have I just bought, the main chest piece is a little under six inches in height, and the material is so light you think Christ have I really just paid $48 dollars for this, then you see and feel the straps and again you get that queasy feeling when you have spent money and received not exactly what you wanted or expected.

Then you start looking it over more closely, and realize that, it just might not be as bad as you first thought, all seems are double stitched and the finish is very professional, you get the impression that this is something that has been made to standards, the straps are permanently attached to the load bearing bib by two quick release clips at the front and at the end top sides by double stitched seems, they are kept in the cross over by a plastic pyramid shaped restraint, the waist strap is long and adaptable to all size waists or for the allowance for use over body armour, and again is attached at one end by a quick release buckle.

I purchased 5 pouches for 7.62 Nato magazines with mine which each carry 2 magazines, this allows me to carry 10 x magazines in total or in real deal terms 200 rounds, this being the minimal war load that I personally carry, I have discovered that these pouches will accommodate 3 x M4 magazines also giving you a possible carry of 15 magazines, thus doing away with having to purchase M4 specific pouches, which was my intent, as being modular, I can configure my MAV to carry any modern assault weapon available today, this means that once I have Purchased AK pouches I am able to configure for any eventuality, this brings me to what I feel is the biggest let down for this system, the manufacturers supply all their pouches with the ridged plastic fasteners, this is laborious and time consuming on the initial set up of your system and bodes not well for a speedy re configuration.

On the whole this system has so far proved a good purchase, this is definitely an ammo carrier, you maybe able to attach a water bottle in place of the medical kit that I carry, but little else in the wider scheme of things, it is a gaming days rig, ideal for those who are able to stash their kit in their Bergen at a harbour area or for those whom are CQB orientated and require large ammunition supplies.

Here are some selected Pictures of my MAV.

Summary

This system has been well thought out and manufactured to a high standard, any doubts you first experience on opening the box it is supplied in are soon over come when you actually start putting it together, all doubts are totally expelled once you have actually donned the MAV and worn it for your first operation, it carries the weight of real deal ammunition very well, so airsoft magazines will be a breeze, the pouches are unique in that they can be left open and the use of a magazine quinch system keeps the magazines firmly in place.

A good purchase out of anybodies pocket, and will last a very long time, plus those load out whores can have a genuine piece of equipment that is in use in Iraq, not only by PMC but also by Military personnel at a very reasonable price, including shipping, for this and other lines go to www.ustacticalsupply.com you won’t be disappointed.
